Michaels Pride got favourite backers off to a good start at Salisbury this afernoon as he just got up in a photo-finish to claim the Alan Blencowe Motor Racing Handicap.

The 9-4 market leader took it up about a furlong and a half out under Frankie Dettori, only for Iffy to launch a late run down the middle of the track.

Dettori managed keep the rapidly tiring Michaels Pride up to her task, however, and just prevailed by a short-head, with Aoninch a further length and three-quarters back in third.

Rabitatit was withdrawn before the start after unshipping 7lb claimer Richard Kingscote on the way to the start.
