If you're planning on sending a Christmas card or parcel to Britain or Europe, make sure you send it today, An Post advises.

The company said today was the last day for posting letters and parcels to Britain and elsewhere in Europe to ensure they are delivered in time for Christmas.

The deadline for post to addresses in the Republic and Northern Ireland is Monday.
