Actor Tim Robbins shocked hordes of merry drinkers at a bar in Northern Ireland by sitting down to watch a local band - and then strumming along with them.
The Shawshank redemption star played guitar and sang with Cruncher Folk at the Hatfield House in Belfast during a break from filming 'The secret life of words' on an oil rig moored at the city's docks.
And staff at the pub were just as stunned as the regulars they were serving - because manager Gregory McGonigle kept on Sunday night's
celebrity surprise secret until the last minute.
He says: "He knows a couple of boys out of the band and it was arranged he would play a couple of tunes, have a drink, a bit of craic and sample good Belfast atmosphere."
A dumbfounded drinker adds: "He wasn't introduced as Tim Robbins, he was just introduced by the band 'as a friend of ours who is going to come up and play with us now'."
