Sigerson Cup final full-time: UUJ 1-14 1-9 UCD
Ulster University Jordanstown claimed their first Sigerson Cup since 1991, and just their fourth in all, when they dispatched a plucky UCD outfit in Scotstown this evening.
UCD took the lead in the opening seconds with JP Casey pointing for the Dublin team.
However, Jordanstown then hit five points in a row to lead 0-5 to 0-1 after 20 minutes with Paddy Bradley (two), Kevin Brady, Aidan O'Rourke and Michael Walsh the scorers.
Further Bradley and Jim McGuinness scores put UUJ six clear before Ciaran McManus scored UCD's second point in the 25th minute.
McGuinness then added his second score of the match to leave UUJ 0-8 to 0-2 ahead after 33 minutes.
The match seemed as good as over in the 39th minute when Armagh county player John Toal hit a goal for UUJ.
UCD fought back to trail by 1-12 to 1-6 with six minutes left.
But Jordanstown held on to win 1-14 to 1-9.
Jordanstown's last Sigerson title came in 1991.
