UEFA will not be investigating Ruud van Nistelrooy's claims that he was spat upon during Manchester United's Champions League draw with Nantes.

Nantes defender Sylvain Armand apparently spat in van Nistelrooy's face after the final whistle.

But referee Kyros Vassaras did not mention the incident in his official match report and so UEFA say they will not be looking into the matter.

A spokesman said: "We have received the report of the referee. Nothing was mentioned in that report so no disciplinary case has been opened. That is it, full stop."

Alex Ferguson had condemned the incident as "terrible" but says United will not make an official complaint.
