President Higgins urges an accountable economic model

President Michael D. Higgins has said regaining the trust of the public requires a new, more accountable economic model.

President Michael D. Higgins has said regaining the trust of the public requires a new, more accountable economic model.

Speaking in South America tonight, where he is currently on a three day tour, he said that the structures of the past have proven to be a failure.

He also cautioned the South American region to bear Europe's failures in mind as it pursues its own development, and he praised governments in the region for their efforts in developing democracies:
