A man in his 20s has died after a row broke out following the attempted robbery of a shop, gardaí said.
The victim died in hospital after he was found with serious injuries in a car park in Killester village in north Dublin last night.
It is understood that he had stab wounds.
Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Raheny Garda Station.
A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí attended the scene following reports of a robbery. An injured man was discovered near the car park of the shop and he was removed by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital where he later died.
“A post mortem examination will be carried out by the State Pathologist.”
The scene of the incident, close to a SuperValu supermarket, is sealed off pending examination by garda crime scene examiners.
Gardaí also appealed for public help in their investigation.
Gardaí later arrested another man aged in his 20s who is being detained at Raheny Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
