INO demand changes in health service

The Irish Nurses Organisation (INO) has called for changes to address the continuing crisis in the health service.

The Irish Nurses Organisation (INO) has called for changes to address the continuing crisis in the health service.

The INO is calling for the creation of an extra 8000 nursing and midwifery posts. It also wants to increase the starting salary of newly qualified nurses and the introduction of an allowance for those living in Dublin.

The INO is also demanding an increase in the capacity of accident and emergency departments and for an extra one thousand consultants.

The organisation also say the expenditure on health should be at least eight per cent of gross domestic product.
