West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green has pulled out of the England squad ahead of Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier against Belarus.

He withdrew from the trip to Minsk because of soreness in his knee and will not travel with the rest of the squad tomorrow.

Green’s withdrawal leaves England with two goalkeepers, David James and Scott Carson, for the Group Six clash.

However Green’s absence is not likely to cause coach Fabio Capello any great headache.

The Hammers number one was not involved in Saturday’s win over Kazakhstan, with James starting the match and Carson the substitute goalkeeper in Capello’s matchday squad.
