It has been announced that 100 new jobs are to be created in Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

It has been announced that 100 new jobs are to be created in Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

A US company, Oakley Incorporated, is setting up a new facility to manufacture eyewear products such as lenses and frames.

The company, which had revenues of $459m last year, will be based at the Clonmore Industrial Estate in the town.

Becky Wilkinson, programme manager with Oakley, said that Mullingar was chosen because of its large skilled workforce and the favourable business climate in Ireland.

The 100 new jobs will be created over the next five years with recruitment already underway.

This is the latest announcement in what has been a very successful month for the IDA.

Since the start of the month, IDA announced projects totalling almost 1,100 new jobs.
