Tony Dobbin’s nasty accident at Newcastle on Wednesday is likely to sideline the rider until the beginning of next week.

Dobbin was unseated from Double Default in the Gosforth Decorating & Building Services Beginners’ Chase when his stirrup leather snapped at the first fence.

“I’m not so bad – just a bit sore as apparently I have damaged some nerves that run from my neck down to my shoulder,” said Dobbin.

“I had X-rays and they showed nothing was broken. I just need a couple of days off so should hopefully be back at the start of next week, although there may not be any race meetings on for a while.”
