The Labour Party has criticised the Government's decision to reduce funding for the IDA as part of a recent round of cutbacks.

Speaking following news of 315 job losses in Dublin and Cork today, party spokesman Brendan Howlin said this reduction in funding has exacerbated the problems caused by the international economic downturn.

"One of the things the Government has done last year is to significantly reduce the funds available to the Industrial Development Agency," he said.

"That will make the search for replacement jobs all the more difficult."
