Minister for Finance Brian Cowen has said the Budget shows a redoubling of the government's effort to address the needs of the less well off.

Minister for Finance Brian Cowen has said the Budget shows a redoubling of the government's effort to address the needs of the less well off.

Today the Minister spelled out the Government targets for the coming year which included an allocation of over €45bn for gross spending on public services - 9.1% more than in 2004.

He also announced an exchequer borrowing requirement of just under €3bn.
