The man beaten to death in a Dublin park at the weekend has been identified as 29-year-old Anthony Jenkinson from Mount Olive Rd, Kilbarrack, who won an appeal against an armed robbery conviction two months ago.

A post mortem has revealed that he died after being battered about the head, probably with a hammer or wheel brace, in St Anne's Park, Raheny.

The time of death is estimated at between 8pm Saturday and 6am yesterday.

The retrial of Mr Jenkinson for the 1997 raid on a post office in Kilbarrack shopping centre fell apart, following the lifting of the conviction when a key witness failed to turn up.
