Livi hit back in amateur row

Former Livingston player Hassan Kachloul has accused Dundee and Dunfermline of sour grapes in their bid to get the club kicked out of the Bank of Scotland Premier League.

Former Livingston player Hassan Kachloul has accused Dundee and Dunfermline of sour grapes in their bid to get the club kicked out of the Bank of Scotland Premier League.

Relegated Dundee – with the backing of East End Park chief John Yorkston - have asked the Scottish Premier League to investigate the circumstances in which the Almondvale outfit signed and played the Moroccan international.

The former Southampton and Aston Villa player joined as an amateur after the January transfer window had closed.

But Kachloul – now a free agent and in France, told the Scottish Daily Star: “This can easily be clarified by the people at Livingston.

“It amuses me that clubs will resort to this when they couldn’t prove their point on the football pitch.

“I have done nothing wrong and Livingston deserve their place in the SPL.

“The team proved it on the pitch and that’s the only place for anyone to win their place in the league.

“I believe it’s quite sad for clubs to go this way – they are blowing smoke around the real story.

“The league places are decided over 38 games and if you don’t get enough points you don’t deserve to stay in the league.”

Livingston will unveil former Celtic star Paul Lambert as their new manager later this morning.
