Pensioner attacked in park in the North

A pensioner was in a serious condition after an assault tonight in the North.

A pensioner was in a serious condition after an assault tonight in the North.

The 70-year-old man was attacked in Churchill Park in Portadown, Co Armagh.

He was found at about 5pm by a passer-by who alerted police.

Detectives in Craigavon are still trying to establish a motive for the assault but it is understood they are not treating it as sectarian.

A man was tonight being questioned about the incident.
