Openet signs contract with Orange

Dublin company Openet has signed a three-year framework contract under which it will fulfill Orange SA's data handling needs for both post and pre-paid multimedia services.

Dublin company Openet has signed a three-year framework contract under which it will fulfill Orange SA's data handling needs for both post and pre-paid multimedia services.

Openet specialises in providing real-time charging and convergent mediation solutions.

It provides transitioning mediation from an anonymous back-office application into a strategic, in-service broker between the network, IN and BSS systems to enable efficient service charging and delivery.

Under the contract, Openet is providing its FusionWorks Mediation solution which should complement the services to its customers and maximise revenue generation from its multiple GSM, GPRS and UMTS networks.

The agreement between the two companies covers the supply and maintenance of mediation solutions for Orange companies throughout.

Openet has already initiated projects with a number of Orange companies.

It won the contract following a year long due diligence process, involving more than twelve mediation vendors.

FusionWorks cover the entire range of mediation needs voice, packet, IP and content.

Openet Telecom was established in July 1999 and provides real-time revenue generating solutions that enable network operators to maximise the profitability of their network and services.

Customers include ATandT Wireless, Esat BT, First Mark and Telecom Italia.

The Orange Group is one of the world's largest mobile communications companies, with over 40 million customers in 21 countries across Europe, Africa and other parts of the world.

As at the end of June 2002 it was the largest mobile operator in both the UK, with 13.1m active customers, and France with 18.8m customers.
