Ploughing attendance plummets

The number of people attending the opening day of the National Ploughing Championships is down on the 2011 figure.

An estimated 52,000 people turned out for day one of the three day event in Co. Wexford compared to 71,000 in Co Kildare last year.

The organisers are apologising to anyone caught up in tailbacks of at least twelve kilometres approaching New Ross from Waterford this morning.
