FG dismisses proposed new national development plan

Fine Gael has rubbished the Government's intention to draw up a new national development plan when the current one expires at the end of next year.

Party spokesperson Olivia Mitchell said she believed the plan would be used as an election manifesto by Fianna Fáil and the Progressive Democrats.

"My fear is that, given the timing of the plan, it is going to be little more than an election manifesto and will not be realistic, will not have achievable targets with clear time-frames," she said.

"That certainly seems to be what has been the history of this Government - promises, talk, but very, very short on delivery."
