Tánaiste and Minister for Health Mary Harney has said amending the threshold for possession of medical cards will be a key priority in her new position.

Tánaiste and Minister for Health Mary Harney has said amending the threshold for possession of medical cards will be a key priority in her new position.

Mary Harney, deputising for the Taoiseach, told the Dáil that hospital waiting lists and step-down facilities for the elderly are also on the top of her list.

The Tánaiste accepted that the income thresholds for medical cards are too low.
