Drowned Meath colleagues named

The two Irishmen who were drowned in Agadir in Morocco have been named.

The two Irishmen who were drowned in Agadir in Morocco have been named.

They were Niall Sheridan, in his 50s, from Athboy, Co Meath, and 25-year-old Joseph Bartley, from Navan, Co Meath.

They were attending an insurance conference in Agadir in the north African country.

The accident happened at around 7.30 last night. Both their partners were with them on the trip - Mr Sheridan has six children.

The men were employees of Galway-based Acorn Life Insurance, and worked in an office in Moynulty, Co Meath.

In a statement the company said: "We have been informed of the tragic drowning at Agadir, Morocco of two of our sales associates.

"At this sad time, our thoughts and prayers are with the men's families.

A spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Dept said it was trying to establish the circumstances behind the deaths.
