Americans were warned today that there are “credible reports” they face kidnapping in the Gaza Strip.

The US embassy in Israel warned: “At this time, Americans are advised to be particularly cautious.”

It urged US citizens “to defer travel” to Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.

“Ongoing violence has caused numerous civilian deaths and injuries, including to some American tourists, students and residents,” an embassy announcement said. “The potential for further terrorist acts remains high.”

The Gaza Strip and West Bank have been the scene of 32 months of Israeli-Palestinian violence.
