This afternoon's meeting at Cheltenham has been abandoned after temperatures dipped sharply overnight and Tuesday's card is also under threat.

With frost forecast the stewards inspected the track this morning and found the course unfit for racing.

"We're off and we will inspect at 4pm this afternoon to assess prospects for tomorrow," clerk of the course Simon Claisse said.

"It got down to -6C overnight and the forecast is for the temperatures to struggle to get above freezing. We had no chance."
