Martin O'Neill hopes Celtic's injury problems do not turn into a crisis after Stephen Crainey was stretchered off against Dundee United.
Crainey was drafted into the first team in place of the suspended Joos Valgaeren but he lasted just 62 minutes before a challenge by Jim Hamilton left him in agony.
O'Neill is already missing Didier Agathe with a serious knee injury and striker Chris Sutton is ruled out for up to six weeks with ankle ligament damage.
Crainey's injury is also to the ankle and O'Neill admitted he was hoping x-rays show he will not be sidelined for as long as Sutton.
He said: "It's very hard to say at the moment what the damage is. The doctor and the physio want to wait until Sunday morning for x-rays.
"It's an ankle knock as well and we're just hoping that it's not as serious as Chris Sutton's and that he won't be out for four to six weeks. We're being on our guard at the moment.
"Jackie McNamara did well so I was pleased for him and Stephen Crainey. I thought Stephen played very well up until the point he was injured."
