Button dreams of British success

Jenson Button has targeted his home GP as the one to win after going close several times this season to recording his maiden victory for BAR.

Button hopes that if he has not already climbed the top step of the podium before the race at Silverstone on July 11 he will end his wait for a win on home soil.

A runner-up Renault’s Jarno Trulli in Monaco, Button is relishing the chance to go one further next month.

“It would be awesome to win anywhere but even more so at Silverstone,” said Button.

“It’s a very fast and flowing circuit and those are the circuits I like. In front of your home crowd has got to be the most amazing thing to win or even get onto the podium.

“So I’m looking forward to Silverstone and I think it will be a very special Grand Prix for the whole team, and hopefully it’s going to be busy and we’ll put on a good show,” Button told www.autosport.com.

Button is focused on the Canadian GP this weekend where he hopes to continue his run of good form this season.

“We want to beat Ferrari and our strategy is always to win,” he said.

“I think we’ll be even closer to Ferrari over the next few races and that means we’ll be closer to our dream, which is to win.”
