O'Neill favourite for Hibs job as Brown takes temporary charge

Hibernian have confirmed that assistant manager Billy Brown will take charge of team affairs while the club search for a new manager.

Shamrock Rovers manager Michael O'Neill has been installed as the bookies' favourite to become the new Hibs manager.

Hibernian have confirmed that assistant manager Billy Brown will take charge of team affairs while the club search for a new manager.

The Easter Road side sacked Colin Calderwood last night after just 12 months in the hotseat following a run of poor results.

Former Hearts number two Brown, 60, was recruited as Calderwood’s assistant in September.

O'Neill has just won back-to-back league titles with Rovers and he also got them to the group stages of the Europa League this season.

His contract with Rovers is up at the end of the December but he is expected to sign a new deal.
