Supreme Novices’ Hurdle hope Acambo could round off his build-up to the Cheltenham Festival by running at Leicester next week.
The five-year-old is the 6-1 market leader with William Hill for the Festival event after winning at Windsor in fine style last month.
Trainer Martin Pipe had entered him for a Grade One event at Sandown tomorrow, but owner David Johnson reports he will head for the Nomad Novices’ Hurdle on Tuesday instead.
He told At The Races: “He’s a very progressive horse and had good form prior to coming to Martin’s yard.
“He’s a big, strong, nice, scopey horse and he’s done nothing wrong.
“We’ve been easy with him and I think the plan is to run him once more, possibly up at Leicester next week as there’s the sort of race there that would be suitable for him.
“He’s learning all the time, jumps well and Timmy (Murphy) said he has a really good attitude.
“He’s got the size to go on and we’re very hopeful for him. I think he will run a big race wherever he runs and he’s an improving horse.”
