An erotic book written by a Pope has been sold for £1.5m at an auction in Paris.

An erotic book written by a Pope has been sold for £1.5m at an auction in Paris.

The book was written in 1444 by Italian priest Enea Silvio Piccolomini, who went on to become Pope Pius II 14 years later.

It tells the story of two lovers who cannot see each other, and write each other letters detailing their sexual fantasies.

It is has not been revealed who has bought the original manuscript.
