The Government has indicated that it may do away with some of the state’s 50 health agencies, including health boards.

The moves could be made under reforms that are expected to be unveiled in the National Health Strategy.

Free maternity and infant care for children up to one-years-old are also planned in the document.

The strategy is to be published next week and will be put before the cabinet shortly.

Some experts are suggesting that the cost of this proposed strategy may run into billions of pounds.
