Leicester will hold a second inspection at 9.30am to decide whether this afternoon’s meeting can go ahead.
Areas of frost in the ground had prompted officials to take a look at 8.30 this morning but that inspection proved inconclusive.
Clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson said: “We will have a second look as although we are not quite there yet, we are definitely heading in the right direction.
“There are still a couple of patches but we are very, very hopeful of going ahead.”
