Winehouse denies husband physically abused her

Fears are growing for singer Amy Winehouse after she was pictured bloodied and battered following an alleged row with her husband at a London hotel.

Fears are growing for singer Amy Winehouse after she was pictured bloodied and battered following an alleged row with her husband at a London hotel.

Police were called to the Sanderson Hotel by a worried onlooker in the early hours of Thursday morning, but the singer refused to press charges.

US gossip website perezhilton.com claimed to have received text messages from Winehouse explaining the incident and denying Fielder-Civil was responsible for her injuries.

Winehouse, who is said to have a history of self-harming, reportedly told Hilton: “Blake is the best man in the world. We would never ever harm each other … I was cutting myself after he found me in our room about to do drugs … and rightly said I wasn’t good enough for him. I lost it and he saved my life.”

According to the website, she went on: “I’ll be alright. I need to fight my man’s corner for him though. For the last time he did not and never has hurt me … He has such a hard time and he is so supportive.

“Please can you put up the truthful version straight away ... he deserves the truth, he is an amazing man who saved my life again and got cut badly for his troubles. All he gets is horrible stories printed about him and he just keeps quiet, but this is too much.”

Winehouse reportedly fled the hotel chased by husband Blake Fielder-Civil and flagged down a stranger's car.

But the couple were reunited hours later and were pictured together arm in arm.

The shocking images show Winehouse wearing blood-soaked ballet shoes, with bruises to her neck, bandages on her arms and make-up smeared down her face. Fielder-Civil had livid scratches covering his face and neck.

Police confirmed they had attended an incident but no charges would be brought.

"Following a third party report to police regarding suspected injuries to a woman in her 20s, police officers spoke with the woman and no criminal offences have been alleged," a Scotland Yard spokesman said.

The couple have been staying in the £200-a-night five star hotel since quitting an Essex rehab clinic.

One witness who saw Winehouse fleeing down Regent Street pursued by Fielder-Civil said: "She was 200 yards in front. He was yelling her name. The road got to a bend and she ran round it."

Winehouse then flagged down the car and jumped in. The onlooker said: "When the car got to Charing Cross, Amy ran to a newsagents for cigarettes. You could see she'd been in a fight."

An hour later, the couple met up in Soho and walked back to the hotel.
