Premiership: Freddy not ready for Hammers

West Ham striker Frederic Kanoute, who missed Monday’s 4-4 draw with Charlton because of a hamstring injury, is doubtful for tomorrow’s home clash with London rivals Tottenham.

Paul Kitson, who scored a hat-trick against Charlton in his first West Ham start for 16 months, is expected to continue.

Former England full-back Nigel Winterburn, also suffering from hamstring trouble, is another non-starter but there could be a return for midfielder Joe Cole, who appeared as substitute against Charlton and played a full 90 minutes in the reserves the following night after his long-running foot injury.

England goalkeeper David James, whose West Ham debut following his summer signing from Aston Villa has been delayed by the knee injury he suffered playing for England against Holland, is ready to challenge Shaka Hislop for the number one spot after three reserve outings.

Team (from): Hislop, Foxe, Repka, Dailly, Schemmel, Sinclair, Hutchison, Carrick, Minto, Di Canio, Kitson, Cole, Lomas, Defoe, Kanoute, James, Courtois, Moncur.
