The Irish Cancer Society has claimed that almost half of all men in Ireland are in denial about weight problems which increase the risk of cancer.

The society said a survey it commissioned found that 20% of Irish men were obese and a further 46% were overweight, but only 22% of respondents admitted to having a weight problem.

Only 50% of respondents said they ate a balanced diet and only 54% said they were physically active.

The survey results were released today to coincide with Men's Cancer Action Week.
