Taoiseach plays down reports of Aer Rianta dispute

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has played down reports of a dispute between the Government and Aer Rianta over plans to lower airport charges and establish a new terminal for low-cost airlines in Dublin.

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has played down reports of a dispute between the Government and Aer Rianta over plans to lower airport charges and establish a new terminal for low-cost airlines in Dublin.

A government report recommended the move, but Aer Rianta immediately criticised it, saying it raises serious financial, security and competition concerns.

Mr Ahern has promised to work with Aer Rianta, which is due to submit an official response to the government report on Wednesday.
