Rovers consider appeal of points deduction

Shamrock Rovers have not ruled out the possibility of appealing against the deduction of eight League points by the FAI’s club licensing committee.

Rovers suffered the points loss last week after the independent committee found Rovers guilty of submitting inaccurate accounts as part of their licensing application last December.

At the time, the club insisted it would accept the punishment but in the Shamrock Rovers programme for last night’s clash with Waterford United, a statement from the committee now running the club stated: “If there are grounds for an appeal then this path will certainly be pursued.”
