Subscribe and drive service company, GoCar, have opened new bases in Dublin and Cork, with a further five to open in the capital in the coming weeks.

The new 'GoBases' are in Drury Street car park (Drury Street, Dublin 2), Schoolhouse Lane car park (off Kildare Street, Dublin 2) and Kent Station in Cork City.

It coincides with the unveiling of GoCar’s rebrand.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Andrew Montague, who was instrumental in the success of the Dublin Bikes scheme, attended today’s launch.

Mr Montague said: "Services like GoCar make the city a better place to live and give its citizens a chance to expand their range of alternatives to the costs and hassles of private car ownership. I hope to see the service continue to expand in Dublin and Cork and eventually, be available nationwide in areas with significant populations outside city confines as can be seen in my own neighbourhood in Ballymun, with the new GoBase opening in association with the Ballymun Regeneration Project."
