Police baffled as thief steals wheelchair ramp from train station

Police in the UK are hunting a thief who stole a wheelchair ramp from a rail station.

The bizarre crime took place on platform nine at Liverpool Lime Street last month.

The raider carried the ramp as he headed to the station’s taxi rank where he then travelled to a pub on the promenade at New Brighton, Merseyside.

British Transport Police has issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.

Pc Richard Melling said: “This is an extremely unusual theft in that it doesn’t appear to have been motivated by greed.

“It is extremely unlikely that the man would be able to sell on the ramp and make a profit from his criminal act.”
