Man shoots himself in garda station lobby

A man has been taken to hospital in Dublin after apparently shooting himself in the lobby of Fitzgibbon Street garda station this afternoon.

A man has been taken to hospital in Dublin after apparently shooting himself in the lobby of Fitzgibbon Street garda station this afternoon.

The incident happened at around 5.30pm.

The man was taken to the nearby Mater Hospital, where his condition is critical. A motive for the incident is also unknown.

The garda station has been sealed off and detectives are interviewing witnesses to the shooting.
