Xnet, an Irish data storage speciality, partnered with leading data storage vendors to hold its second annual conference 'Data Storage Ireland', in Dublin on November 15.

About 200 delegates attended. Aidan Higgins, MD of Xnet, spoke of the storage evolution and the benefits to businesses of having an effective storage and availability strategy.

Zarah Damji, senior research analyst of European Storage Systems, IDC spoke of the European outlook for storage, commenting: "Storage has become a very hot area of technology.

"Storage capacity is increasing at a rate of 80% per annum, yet storage managers will need to improve efficiencies by 60% per annum in order to keep up."
