OSCE meeting heads towards conclusion

The two day Dublin meeting of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe concludes this afternoon.

Over 50 Foreign Ministers are among the 1,500 delegates who have been attending the Ministerial Council peace-keeping talks.

The event marks the end of Ireland's year long chairmanship of the OSCE, which deals with conflict prevention.

The European Affairs Minister says important decisions have been made on policing, justice and law enforcement.

However Lucinda Creighton says a common position on internet freedom among the 57 countries was not achieved.

“This is something that is hugely important to Ireland and a lot of other countries.

“A number of countries, including the United States will sign up to an agreement on internet freedom. There will be more than 30 sign up and I hope that will provide a platform to put pressure on those who haven’t.”
