A “weird” man called Tom Stephens was questioned by police days after the naked remains of five prostitutes were found in Ipswich in the UK, a jury heard today.

Mr Stephens had “been with” all five of the murdered women – and was worried about the DNA of one of the victims being found on his sheets and in his bath, Ipswich Crown Court was told.

He was also concerned about the way officers had treated him and thought the police were “stupid”, jurors heard.

A prostitute, identified only as Miss F, gave the court details about Mr Stephens.

She was giving evidence in the trial of a forklift truck driver accused of killing the five women.

Steve Wright (aged 49), of Ipswich, Suffolk, denies murdering Paula Clennell, 24, Anneli Alderton, 24, Gemma Adams, 25, Tania Nicol, 19, and Annette Nicholls, 29.

The women, who all worked as prostitutes in Ipswich, were found dead in isolated locations near the town between December 2 and December 12, 2006.

Detectives launched an inquiry after Miss Nicol vanished on October 30, 2006.
