Connacht captain John Muldoon is set to miss his side’s festive programme after breaking his arm in Friday’s Amlin Challenge Cup defeat to Harlequins in Galway.
The 28-year-old back-rower broke his arm earlier this year when playing for Ireland against New Zealand in June, forcing him to miss the start of the season, and he has suffered a similar injury this time with scans revealing a fracture to his forearm.
Further tests will be needed to determine the full extent of the injury but the number eight will definitely miss this weekend’s Magners League clash with Munster.
A statement on the Connacht website read: “Muldoon suffered a knock to his forearm on Friday evening against Harlequins and subsequent scans have revealed another fracture in the forearm of the talismanic number eight.
“Whilst the injury looks certain to rule Muldoon out of this weekend’s clash with Munster the full extent of the injury will not be know until further tests have been carried out.”
