Elton John tonight led a celebrity guest list at David and Victoria Beckham’s home as the England captain and his wife hosted a christening for their two young sons.
Brooklyn, five, and two-year-old Romeo were being christened in a ceremony in the grounds of the family’s Hertfordshire mansion, dubbed Beckingham Palace.
The christenings were being conducted by the Rt Rev Paul Colton, the Bishop of Cork, who married the couple five years ago.
The guest list for the event in a chapel newly built for the occasion is said to include actress Liz Hurley, the other four members of Victoria’s band, the Spice Girls, as well as footballers Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney.
Sir Elton arrived for the black-tie affair with his partner David Furnish in a silver Rolls Royce. It has been suggested that Sir Elton would become godfather to the two boys.
Earlier in the afternoon Beckham’s mother Sandra drove to the couple’s home near Sawbridgeworth, closely followed by Victoria’s parents, Tony and Jackie, and then her sister, Louise.
