Retail sales in the eurozone rose in May.
But official figures from the European Union show sales at shops in the 17 countries that use the single currency weren't strong enough to make up for April's poor figures.
Sales grew in May by 0.6% after falling 1.4% in April.
And unemployment rose to a record 11.1% in May, leaving more than 17.5m people out of work in the eurozone.
