Annoyance 999 calls are something we're all used to hearing about. But this one takes the cake hamburger.
An angry punter called for police assistance this month, insisting he needed to be put through to the local station – because of a dispute over a burger.
The emergency service was less than impressed.
The irate man demanded to be put through to a local station, despite being repeatedly told that wasn't possible and 999 was for emergencies only.
After interrupting the operator loudly and repeatedly, he finally arrived at the meat of the matter.
"I'm at McDonald's, yeah? And I'm asking about the ingredients."
"This is not a 999 emergency," the operator replied.
"Suit yourself," the caller said. Which prompted the operator to repeat that it was not an emergency.
"Is it not? Okey dokey," the caller offers.
"Is there anything else happening there? Is there anyone being violent or aggressive, or is anyone's life in danger?"
No, there was not.
"999 should only be used in genuine emergencies," West Midlands Police, who released the clip, said.
"Every call we receive takes time to answer and false or hoax calls could impact on the time it takes to respond to genuine life-or-death emergency calls."
The West Midlands Police soundcloud account, which published the audio, is a real gem. Last year, they published a call from a man complaining about a prostitute's appearance, who he claimed lied in her advertisement.
