Eircom said today that earnings for 2011 will be significantly below the previous period due to the weakened state of the Irish economy.
However, the company said that it is still on target to commence a fibre-building project in January.
It is expected to deliver fibre connections to 100,000 premises by next summer.
In a statement, eircom said that lower consumer confidence and competition are putting continued pressure on fixed line and mobile areas.
