Cheryl and Simon's catty comments revealed

Simon Cowell labelled Cheryl Cole a "childish little brat" during 'The X Factor' auditions.

The Girls Aloud beauty - who filmed a few early episodes of the show before being forced to take time off after falling unwell with malaria - got so frustrated with the opinionated music mogul, that she stuck her tongue out at him after disagreeing about an act.

He replied: "Don't be such a childish little brat Cheryl!"

The pair had a series of fallings out during the Glasgow and London auditions, with Simon telling the 27-year-old beauty she was being unfair to hopeful girl groups after she told one band, who performed a cover of 'N Sync's 2001 hit 'Pop', they would be better suited for children's telly.

She told the brightly-dressed trio: "Maybe you should try auditioning for like a kids' programme, something like that."

But Simon responded by suggesting Cheryl was being catty, and kept asking assistants to bring her a saucer of milk.

When another girl group performed an acapella rendition of Cheryl's hit son 'Parachute', she tactfully told them: "I think your image needs a serious looking at."

Simon responded later by seeking out a plate, placing it in front of Cheryl and filling it with milk for her to sip - while she scowled at him.

Cheryl and Simon were joined on the judging panel by boy band manager Louis Walsh, with Geri Halliwell acting as a guest judge in the Scotland auditions whilst regular panel member Dannii Minogue was on maternity leave.

However, when Cheryl travelled to London for auditions with just Louis and Simon, the starlet seemingly grew tired with their bickering ways.

She moaned: "It's actually hard working with those two when they're behaving like Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee!"

The new series of 'The X Factor' starts on Saturday at 7.30pm.

The first episode features a performing househusband, hyperactive duet Gay and Straight and an eccentric mum-of-one who made up her lyrics the night before her audition.
