The French government has said the murders of a policeman and his partner were an "abject act of terrorism".
The suspect was killed by security services last night after the officer was stabbed outside his home to the north of Paris, and she was found inside.
France's President Francois Hollande will hold an emergency meeting with senior officials about the attack.
Islamic State has claimed responsibility - but that has not been verified.
Sky's Siobhan Robbins is in the French capital; “We understand that the President here will be holding a meeting later this morning to discuss this attack.
“If it is a terrorist attack carried out by Islamic State, it will be the first since those deadly attacks here in November which killed 130 people.”
