The Court of Criminal Appeal has reserved judgment in an Galway woman's appeal against the severity of the nine-year prison sentence she received for stabbing her neighbour to death following a row regarding a puppy.
Una Black (aged 27) claims that the sentence she received for killing her neighbour John Malone is disproportionate.
Ms Black formerly of Walter Macken Flats, Mervue, Galway pleaded guilty last year to the manslaughter of John Malone (aged 42) at Walter Macken Flats, Mervue, Galway, on December 3rd, 2006.
Last July at the Central Criminal Court Mr Justice Paul Carney sentenced her to nine years in prison.
Ms Black, who gave birth shortly after the sentence was imposed, appealed against the severity of that sentence.
Today the Court of Criminal Appeal of the Chief Justice Mr John Murray presiding sitting with Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy, Mr Justice Daniel O'Keeffe reserved their decision.
The court said it hoped to give judgment as soon as possible.
