Fiesolana is set to have a second crack at the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown next month after she came close to Group One glory at Deauville on Sunday.
The Willie McCreery-trained mare led for most of the way when third to Garswood in the Prix Maurice de Gheest over six and a half furlongs, and will now attempt to improve on her fifth place at a mile in the Matron last September.
“She’s a really good filly and tough. She ran a lovely race and has come out of it in good form,” said Alan Cooper, racing manager for owners Flaxman Stables Ireland Ltd.
“All being well she’ll be going for the Matron.”
